PLAYER INFORMATION
NAME: Tsu
AGE: 27
JOURNAL: [personal profile] wiktortwo
CURRENTLY PLAYED: None.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
CHARACTER NAME: Pavel Chekov
SERIES: Star Trek ( AOS )
CHARACTER AGE: 18 as of the end of Into Darkness
REFERENCE: Chekov's page on Memory Alpha.
CANON POINT: Post-Into Darkness.
SEXUALITY: Chekov's sexuality is never openly stated in canon, though I like to think that given his age and impressionable nature he is very easily bisexual. ( Impressionable here meaning that he would be open to exploration given that, as a young Starfleet officer he hasn't yet been allowed to explore and realize what he finds attractive. As inquisitive as he is, I'm prone to believing that given the proper opportunities, he'd do quite a bit of exploring. )
PERSONALITY: Pavel Andreievich Chekov is a people-pleaser to the very core of his existence. But since that kind of goes without saying, let's start with something else.

Being one of the youngest Starfleet officers to be assigned as a member of the bridge crew – never mind the fact that he's assigned to the Enterprise, the bright-and-shiny new flagship of the entire fleet – means that the kid is most definitely an achiever. ( An over-achiever, if you really want to go that far, but he's Russian and they don't do anything by halves. Ever. ) Earning his first post as ship's navigator at the age of seventeen gives rise to the reasonable deduction that from a very young age he'd been encouraged to focus on his studies, to excel in everything he does, and he most definitely does. Who else do you know that could calculate more quickly than the ship's computer to allow the transporter to get a lock on not one, but two signals and beam Kirk and Sulu back before they met their untimely demise against the crumbling surface of Vulcan?

No one, I tell you.

And while he may be a whizkid, a progeny of his kind in the sense that his brain is probably worth more than you can even imagine, he's still young. Which, in essence, means that while he's seen more than anyone his age should by that point - death, destruction, generally R-rated situations involving blood and violence, that sort of thing – he is not, by any means, an adult. Given his background and attention to his coursework instead of interacting with others his own age, he's more than just a bit shy when it comes to social interaction. Give him equations, a problem to solve, and he'll do it so quickly that you won't even be able to blink .. but put him in a room full of people that he doesn't know and he's pretty much the embodiment of the deer in the headlights. ( That's not to say that he doesn't get it under control once he gets to know someone. It's just getting to that point that takes a little bit more than your average human being might require. )

Now, he might be shy, but he also has an inquisitive and downright curious streak that runs down to the very core of him. It plays an integral part in learning as much as he does, because he may as well be pegged as the type to want to know everything under the sun. Figure it out, work it out, make it into a problem that he can solve just because that's how his brain works. In his mind, people and social interactions are viewed as equations – something that he can work out with lines of code or some such nonsense, because it's what he's used to. Everything is math and science, and once it's presented to him he won't stop until he's found the answer and you shouldn't be surprised if there's an exclamation of "ё моё!" for your trouble.

Loyalty, as well, is pretty much ingrained into him. Once he's found someone worthy of his trust – like, say, the ship's captain and resident blowhard – he will do absolutely anything within his power to help them. It isn't something that seems easily-won, but once you've got it? You have your own personal Russian babysitter. ( In a sense. Pretty sure McCoy would say that he's the one that needs babysitting, but that's neither here nor there. )

Speaking of Kirk, actually, this kid has a serious case of hero-worship where that man is concerned. I'm almost positive there isn't a thing that the man could ask of him that he wouldn't do, and if that doesn't spell loyalty to a T, I don't know what would. He looks up to him, as a mentor more than anything. There is an unflinching belief that Kirk will always manage to do the right thing, always be able to save them if they've found themselves in a sticky situation. Really, there is no one else that he trusts more than his captain – keptin, sorry – except for maybe Sulu, and that's a different story altogether.

Sulu is pretty much the kid's best friend, hands-down. Someone he trusts implicitly, someone that he enjoys and actively seeks the company of when not on duty. He's one of those people that .. gets him to calm down. The kid's very easily excitable, kind of like a little Russian pikachu ( I can't believe I just said that, I'm so sorry ) in the amount of energy he has at any given time, and having someone there to help him balance out is something that he very desperately needs half the time. They work well together, complement one another in ways that few others on the ship can even come close to.

Sulu is just one of those all-important people in the kid's life that serves as a staple to keep him centered. Remind him of who he is and where he comes from as well as what he's been brought aboard the ship to do.

And for every other member of the crew, there is tentative respect. He may not know all of them personally, but the crew of the Enterprise is family to him. ( Something else he seems to have in common with Kirk, but who's really all that surprised .. )

In short .. let's see. High-energy and people-pleasing: check. Smartest little shit to have ever existed outside of Vulcan: check. Loyalty that knows no bounds when it comes to people he holds close: check, check, check. Inquisitive and analytical mind that executes a good thousand processes all at once, and then some: fucking check.

The kid's a badass. Know why? 'Cause he can do zat.
POWERS: None, unless you count a brain better at processing than a damn computer. Boy's about as human as you can get.
SUITABILITY: He's been put into a myriad of situations that someone his age would have come away scarred by - but given his tenacity for adaptation and drive to make himself both useful and independent, despite the addition of sex to the equation, I believe he would fit well once he got the handle of the situation.
FIRST PERSON EXAMPLE:
( ) IC inbox thread with Sulu.
( ) IC inbox thread with Finnel.
THIRD PERSON EXAMPLE:
( ) Log with Spock, and the only sex-related thread I have with him. I'm admittedly reticent about using it given that I no longer write out his accent - though I will say that that is the only thing to have changed about how I write him. ( If this isn't acceptable, feel free to just pretend it doesn't exist and go with the others! )
( ) Log with Spock, very short but introspection.
( ) Log with Sulu.
( ) Test drive with Dr. McCoy.
( ) Test drive with Sulu.
( ) Test drive with Abigail.
